Trips less than 3 hours long can be made without stopping. Longer trips, however, should include plenty of breaks to refill hay nets, check the water, stretch your own legs and allow the horse to urinate. If you’re going to be traveling 18 hours or more you’re going to need to plan on stopping for the night for your horse to be able to move around freely. Any long trip should be arranged with the proper accommodations (available through any horseman’s directory) already prepared.
